Mark Twain

Whenever you find that you are on the side of the majority,
it is time to pause and reflect. -- Notebook 1904

Why is it that we rejoice at a birth and grieve at a funeral?
It is because we are not the person involved.
-- Pudd'nhead Wilson

For more Mark Twain, I suggest you read, or reread, everything he's written; however, to single one out for the week, I recommend
A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. This satirical novel is the tale of a commonsensical Yankee who is carried back in time to Britain in the Dark Ages, and it celebrates homespun ingenuity and democratic values in contrast to the superstitious ineptitude of a feudal monarchy.
